Bar & Restaurant refurbishment

Situated in the historical courtyard of the Eskmills development in Musselburgh, the Birdcage is a newly refurbished contemporary bar and restaurant serving modern fresh cuisine. The existing bland, commercial space has been transformed by the insertion of a new glamorous bar with a luxurious upholstered front and crackle-glaze tiled top. An Osborne and Little ‘Grove Garden’ wallcovering and matching upholstery, featuring small hummingbirds darting amongst exotic foliage, reinforces the new birdcage motif.

Pendant light shades reminiscent of bird’s wings in flight hang over head and add to the soft warm atmosphere in the original pavilion building, whilst hanging birdcages containing candles enliven the fully glazed restaurant space in the evening, creating a soft ambient light overhead. A linear set of deep-buttoned chesterfield style black leather back to back sofas, and an elongated-square buttoned couch, soften this glazed space and create much needed comfort and luxury, complementing the existing timber tables and wall panelling.
