Private residential refurbishment and extension

Substantial renovation to a 19th century cottage in the conservation village of Eaglesham. A remodel and modernisation of the existing cottage and a contemporary extension to replace the run-down existing addition. The concept was to create an extension that feels like a “pavillion” in a park where the master bedroom is housed under a slate roof with a glazed cupola overhead; the remainder is under a sedum roof that minimises the impact and mass of the extension from the upstairs property.

Overlooking and privacy were key planning concerns that have been responded to by bringing light deep into the plan via glazed roofs and clerestorys hidden from public view. Large folding / sliding doors allow the elevation to the garden to be opened up and create a further extension of the home in summer. Other design features include polished concrete floors with underfloor heating, timber rainscreen cladding, a glass roofed shower room and external private courtyard.
