A low energy pre-fabricated extension to a C Listed Victorian property

This refurbishment of a 'C' Listed property in Stirling also created an additional space to the rear, constructed using high quality pre-fabricated construction panels.

The works included internal renovations throughout the 3 storey dwelling which included restoration and spatial reorganization of previously un-functional spaces.

The new, sensitively designed, contemporary rear extension replaced an existing two storey extension which was disconnected from the remainder of the house, and now contains an integrated, family orientated, multi-functional space.

The previous extension had destroyed a traditional large arched window that originally lit the property's stairwell.

Internal works included the addition of a new family bathroom, a large utility room, a home office / study, an en-suite shower room, full re-decorations throughout, and the reinstatement of the original arched window over the stair, complete with colour matched slim-lite double glazed perimeter panels.

The new extension contains a modern, bright dining-kitchen with direct access to the rear garden.

The new extension element is separated from the existing building by a wrap-around glazed circulation slot that gives a clear delineation between the old building and the new intervention.

This modern, bright dining-kitchen has direct access to the rear garden, and is clad externally in recyclable dove-grey zinc-cladding, un-treated larch rainscreen cladding, and finished with a planted sedum roof to give back some biodiversity to the site.

This space also includes a corner window incorporating a bench seat with storage below, a large glazed sliding door opening directly to the rear garden, and a dramatic skylight that bathes the internal spaces in light and warmth.
